Stadium construction with contractor selected
San Fernando City Council has completed the tender process for the construction of new Bahía Sur stadium, which will begin in 2025. The winner was a joint venture consisting of two experienced companies - Vilor Infraestructuras from Valencia and Trafisa Construcción y Medioambiente from Granada. Both of these companies have a wealth of experience in delivering complex infrastructure projects.
Construction is still a year away from starting, so there will be a bit of a wait at this point. Many fans are looking for alternative activity at their fingertips so they don't have to wait. When looking for bookmaker offers, fans often choose slot gacor, which offers a diverse selection of slot games and convenient payment methods.
Vilor Infraestructuras has been active in the construction industry for many years, specialising in public and private projects in Spain, while Trafisa was initially involved in environmental services, but as a result of the growth of the business, it expanded its offering to include construction and building projects. The selection of this joint venture was the result of a detailed evaluation, during which its proposed solutions received the highest marks of the three bids submitted.
Details of the redevelopment
The construction of the new football stadium in Bahía Sur is an investment of almost €11 million, making it one of the largest in the history of the city's budget. Despite the impressive cost, the project ranks just behind the investment in La Magdalena Park, which will cost €13.3 million. The stadium is scheduled to take 16 months to complete, with a planned completion date before the start of the 2026/2027 football season. If there are no unforeseen complications, work will start in early 2025.
The project involves the complete refurbishment of the existing Bahía Sur stadium, which has so far served both football and athletics. Under the new plans, the venue will be transformed into a football stadium that meets the requirements of the Second Division according to Royal Spanish Football Federation standards. The pitch will have the maximum permitted dimensions according to FIFA standards, further raising the profile of the facility.
The stadium will be able to accommodate between 6,000 and 10,000 spectators. It is also worth highlighting the green approach to facility management - the stadium will be connected to an irrigation network using recycled water.
Infrastructure transformation and new facilities
The existing grandstand of the stadium will be retained, but the facility will undergo a major upgrade. The space previously occupied by the athletics track will be replaced by a new football pitch. A new two-level grandstand will also be built. The spaces underneath the stands will be adapted accordingly, allowing for modern areas for the football teams, including new substitute benches.
All these changes take into account the needs of people with disabilities - the stadium will be fully adapted to their needs, making the facility more accessible and user-friendly for all.
The new seats in the stands will be more comfortable - equipped with backrests and a folding function to improve spectator comfort. The stadium will also be equipped with modern media booths, allowing for top-level match broadcasting. New changing rooms are also planned - separate for the men's teams, women's teams, referees and security guards. The stadium will have a separate exit for security, which will improve organisation during sports events.
The stadium's internal infrastructure will be enhanced with parking spaces for buses and private vehicles. Ticket offices and ticket sales areas will also be created, which will also be adapted for people with disabilities. The venue will be equipped with a modern lighting system to enable evening matches to be played at the highest level.
Planned changes around the stadium and new athletics stadium
In connection with the modernisation of the football stadium, the athletics track will be removed. With athletics in mind, a new stadium is planned for Camposoto with a budget of €3.5 million. The tender for the construction of this facility has already been issued and its implementation will be an integral part of the city's infrastructure plan.
Within the Bahía Sur stadium, the remaining grandstand space will be developed into a car park and access roads, improving the accessibility of the facility. All of this infrastructure will be coordinated with existing and future traffic solutions at the Bahía Sur shopping complex.
