Temple of Parma football

Stadio Ennio Tardini, located in the heart of Parma, is a venue that for a century has acted not only as a sporting arena, but also as the centre of the city's cultural and social life. It is no coincidence that the opening is on September 16, 2024 - exactly one hundred years after the foundation stone was laid for this extraordinary venue.

Something that has lasted longer than 100 years is the desire to find extra activities in one's spare time. For some, this is computer games or other online entertainment. When looking for an offer, fans often choose casinos that accept Ethereum, where players can choose best online casinos sites and offer faster and more anonymous transactions.

The exhibition held at the Palazzo del Governatore is an initiative of the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture of the University of Parma in collaboration with the Gazzetta di Parma, the cultural club Il Borgo, as well as the Municipality of Parma and private sponsors, including the Tardini family. It aims to provide an insight into the history of the stadium and its role in the city over the centuries. The exhibition reconstructs key moments in the life of the stadium, using extensive documentation, photographs, architectural models and multimedia.

Architectural transformation of stadium

The main narrative thread of the exhibition is the unique symbiosis between the architecture of the stadium, the urban space of Parma and its inhabitants. This journey back in time begins at the beginning of the twentieth century, when the idea of building large-scale sports facilities, including football stadiums, developed. The exhibition shows not only the architectural development, but also the social and cultural changes that affected football and sport in general.

The central figure of the exhibition is Ennio Tardini, the man whose vision and determination led to the creation of the stadium. It was thanks to him that Parma gained a sports facility that today is one of the oldest football stadiums in Italy. A great deal of emphasis was placed on the original 1923 design of the stadium by Parma architect Ettore Leoni. Leoni created a design that harmoniously combined the existing urban fabric with a modern, monumental sports facility, fitting into Parma's architectural landscape.

Over the course of a century, Tardini Stadium has undergone numerous transformations, reflecting the changing needs of the city and its inhabitants. The exhibition documents these changes, presenting the modernisation projects that have adapted the facility to the demands of modern sporting spectacles, while preserving its historic character.

Tardini in the face of today's challenges

One of the most important themes explored in the exhibition is the current debate about the future of the stadium. Faced with increasing demands for sustainability, accessibility and multifunctionality, the Tardini Stadium faces the challenge of revitalisation. The last part of the exhibition is dedicated to analysing the various redevelopment proposals and comparing these projects with examples of stadiums from other countries.

In this part of the exhibition, visitors have the chance to reflect on the role of the stadium in the modern city. What is the significance of the stadium in 21st century society? How can tradition be reconciled with modern technical and ecological requirements? These questions are sure to be the focus of attention for experts and city residents alike.

A number of meetings and conferences are planned, during which specialists in the fields of architecture, history and sport will share their reflections on the Tardini Stadium and its importance for the city and its inhabitants.
