Empoli FC: stadium of future
Work on the redevelopment of Stadio Castellani will be divided into four phases. The first stage will involve the Curva Sud: four sectors will be removed and replaced by a stand for 4,000 spectators, located closer to the pitch. This grandstand will seat Empoli's most ardent supporters and the work will take around seven months.
Fans are obviously interested in the changes that will take place in the stadium, and the redevelopment of the stands may make it more difficult to cheer for some time. Many fans are also looking for alternative entertainment, which at the same time offers the opportunity to earn money. Therefore, it is worth checking out the guide that presents several of the best crypto to buy now in September 2024.
The second phase will involve the Curva Nord: the sectors will be dismantled and replaced by a new stand designed for visiting fans. The work will take around 9 months, with the possibility of extending this period due to the need to dismantle the rooms that currently house the changing rooms.
The third phase involves moving the pitch 15 metres towards the Marathon stand. Once this work is completed, three of the four sectors will be closer to the pitch. Work on this stage will take three months and will be carried out in the summer, after the end of the season.
The final stage involves the construction of a covered stand for 4,300 spectators, which will be built from the ground up, along with a VIP area, a hospitality area and an underground car park. Inside the grandstand there will be 23 shops arranged on different levels. This phase will take approximately 10 months to complete.
The total construction time for the stadium will be 36 months, including interruptions. The cost of Empoli's new stadium will be around €45 million. Once completed, the stadium will be able to accommodate around 18,600 spectators.
First meeting with residents about stadium
The meeting, held in Serravalle, outlined the timetable for a participatory pathway to gather citizens' ideas and proposals for the new stadium project. This process will last from September to mid-October. In the meantime, the first meeting initiated by the municipality took place at the Avis headquarters in Serravalle to inform the neighbourhood's residents. The meeting was attended by Mayor Alessio Mantellassi and Empoli FC organisational director Gianmarco Lupi.
The meeting discussed how the spaces inside the stadium, which the committee believes should remain unchanged, including the gymnasium and medical centre, will be arranged. With regard to the outdoor spaces, the focal point is to remain the square. A timetable for the works was requested in order to minimise inconvenience as much as possible.
Parking issues and the road layout in the area were also raised. The priority, identified by the committee, is the repair of the Serravalle car park and the construction of an additional roundabout between Via Serravalle and Via delle Olimpiadi.
Mayor's words
This meeting has been announced for a long time, and I am pleased with the commitment that was seen this evening. I thought it appropriate to inform residents before the summer break, in view of the important participatory process that will take place between September and mid-October
- commented Mayor Alessio Mantellassi.
In the meantime, all the points of the project presented by Empoli FC for the redevelopment of the stadium have been discussed, including those that have already been widely discussed in the press. The most sensitive issues, both inside and outside the venue, have been addressed, and in previous meetings with representatives of local businesses, sports associations and the Serravalle committee we discussed the details. We have chosen the right path to move forward with improvements to the project, with the good of Empoli in mind
- Mantellassi added.
