Germany: Preußen Münster to redevelop their stadium by 2028 SC Preußen Münster have announced ambitious stadium renovation plans to be completed by 2028. Ambitious plans to modernise stadium

Unlike neighbouring rivals VfL Osnabrück, whose Bremer Brücke stadium is still waiting its turn for modernisation, Preußen Münster is moving forward with momentum with the redevelopment of its facility at Hammer Straße. At a press conference on Monday, the club announced that the stadium will be completely renovated by 2028, with the renowned Hellmich construction group from Dinslaken in charge of the project.

The opening of the stadium is therefore four years away, so there is a bit of a wait for that moment. Many fans are looking for alternative entertainment at their fingertips, so they don't have to wait. When looking for a betting offer, fans often choose solana online casinos, where players can choose to offer everything from slots and table games to video poker, dice, and sports betting.

The plan to modernise the stadium is in multiple stages and includes not only increasing the capacity of the venue to over 19,000 seats, but also the construction of new stands and function spaces. The eastern stand, which will accommodate as many as 8,700 standing places, is expected to take into account fans' preferences, creating a unique atmosphere during matches. It is worth mentioning that the construction work will be carried outin such a way that the stadium will remain in continuous use, allowing the club to hold matches even during the renovation.

Increased funding and modern solutions

The initial budget for the stadium upgrade was €65 million, but as the project developed, Münster City Council increased the funding to €88 million. This demonstrates the city's commitment to creating a facility that meets the club's sporting needs.

SC Preußen Münster is not only committed to sporting development, but also to advanced infrastructure. The stadium, once upgraded, will be an example of energy efficiency - it is expected to produce more energy than it consumes, which is in line with current environmental trends. In addition, the club is emphasising the accessibility of the facility for people with disabilities. One percent of all seats are to be dedicated to spectators in wheelchairs, an unprecedented step in Germany.

New functions and integration into surroundings

The redevelopment of the stadium is not limited to the stands and the pitch. In the south-east corner of the stadium, a four-storey building will be constructed to serve as the club's common room and offices. On the other hand, new function rooms will be built in the northern part of the venue to facilitate the organisation of matches and the management of the facility on match days.

Furthermore, the project envisages the construction of a children's day-care centre, which will be integrated into the stadium, further linking the sports infrastructure to the needs of the residents of the Berg Fidel district

Timetable for construction work and impact on matchday activities

Construction work is scheduled to begin in the second quarter of 2025, with the entire project to be completed by February 2028. Despite the works, the venue will be able to accommodate at least 9,000 spectators, which will minimise the impact of the renovation on hosting football matches.

The first stage of the upgrade will be the west stand, which is expected to be completed by the end of 2025. The next step will be the east stand, which is scheduled for completion by the end of 2026. The entire project will be finalised with the completion of the north stand at the end of 2027.

Benefits for club and region

SC Preußen Münster managing director Ole Kittner is convinced that the new stadium will not only benefit the club, but also the entire region. The stadium will take Preußen Münster to a new emotional, sporting and economic level. The 1.6 million people from the Münsterland region will find an emotional place here, and Berg Fidel will become an ambassador of sport not only for the city of Münster, but for the entire region - Kittner said.

In addition to SC Preußen Münster, other sports institutions operating in the area, such as volleyball club USC Münster and basketball club Uni Baskets, will also benefit from the infrastructure upgrade . The new facilities and infrastructure will open up opportunities for them to host even more sporting events.

The mayor of Münster, Markus Lewe, emphasised that after years of preparation and planning, the point of no return had been reached. One hundred years after the opening of the stadium in Hammer Straße, the SCP will have a modern home for countless sporting emotions, just as it has in the past commented Lewe.
