The agreement, marking a new chapter for the Washington Commanders, will change the name of the team’s home from Commanders Field to Northwest Stadium. This change will take effect on September 15, when both organizations will officially kick off the expansion and development of their existing partnership with a joint press conference at the stadium ahead of the Commanders' home opener.

Northwest Federal Credit Union has been an integral part of this community for generations, and we couldn’t be prouder to partner with an organization as dedicated to the DMV as we are, said Josh Harris, managing partner of Washington Commanders. This expanded partnership includes exclusive Northwest branding throughout the stadium, including new stadium logos both inside and outside the facility. Northwest will also be featured on special patches on the team's practice jerseys.

Additionally, the partnership will bring several new benefits for Commanders fans who are Northwest members, such as discounts on tickets and merchandise. However, it's not just Commanders fans who can enjoy great benefits. Serving the entire community

This agreement will strengthen the long-standing partnership between the two organizations. In 2023, Northwest became the official Commanders Credit Union partner, establishing Northwest as a key partner for several charitable Commanders events, including the Commanders Read community program, the Northern Virginia Science Center STEM event, and the annual Commanders Harvest Feast. Northwest is an organization that strives not only to support people financially through high-quality products and services but also has a consistent track record of prioritizing community work.

The worst stadium in the league?

Northwest Stadium is an American football stadium located in Landover, Maryland, 8.0 km east of Washington, D.C. From 2004 to 2010, it had the largest capacity in the NFL, with 91,000 seats; it currently holds 65,000 people. The stadium opened in 1997 as Jack Kent Cooke Stadium. From 1999 to 2024, it was known as FedExField, until FedEx ended its sponsorship.

This stadium is considered one of the worst in the NFL and has been ranked as the worst in several surveys. In 2022, when Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts was walking through the visitors' tunnel, a barrier separating seated fans from the tunnel collapsed, causing several people to fall near him. According to several witnesses, team staff did not provide assistance or call for medical help for the fallen fans but instead yelled, Get the hell off the field. The team issued a statement in response to the criticism, claiming that medical examinations were conducted on-site, but one fan denied this.
