Naples, Florida-based Manhattan Construction Group will build the project, which was designed by Dallas-based HKS Architects, according to an FC Dallas press release. Catching up with modern standards

Located about 27 miles from downtown Dallas, Toyota Stadium is the third-oldest soccer-specific venue in Major League Soccer. Since 2005, it has hosted sports events for the Frisco Independent School District. The goal of the renovation is to modernize the facility and enhance the guest experience, reestablishing Toyota Stadium as one of the premier stadiums in Major League Soccer, said FC Dallas President and CEO Clark Hunt in a statement. When Toyota Stadium opened in 2005, it was a state-of-the-art facility ahead of its time, and its success helped pave the way for dozens of soccer-specific stadiums across the country, Hunt added.

From 2005 until January 2012, the stadium’s naming rights were held by the national pizza chain Pizza Hut, headquartered in nearby Plano, and the venue was known as Pizza Hut Park. On September 10, 2013, FC Dallas signed a naming agreement with Houston-based Gulf States Toyota Distributors, renaming the stadium Toyota Stadium.
