A fall caused the death of a socio in San Sebastian just before the start of the match against Real Madrid. The club has announced its condolences to the family and friends of the deceased, while Ertzaintza, the local police, has opened an investigation to discover the cause of the tragedy.

The Ertzaintza opens an investigation

Just before the start of the match between Real Sociedad and Real Madrid at Reale Arena, the security forces received a call to gate 5 of the stadium because one of the fans had been injured. The wounded was a socio who, upon accessing the stadium, suffered a blow to the head as the effect of the fall.

After being treated at the scene, the socio was transferred to the Donostia Hospital, where, unfortunately, the doctors were unable to save his life. The Ertzaintza is already investigating the cause of the fall, which, according to the statement issued by the club, was an accident:

Real Sociedad deeply regrets the loss of a Club member, who died yesterday, accidentally, when he was about to access the Reale Arena.

The txuri urdin club would like to express its deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased season ticket holder. The first team will play with black armbands on Tuesday in Mallorca and a minute's silence will be observed at the Reale Arena in the match against Valencia on the 28th.
