Girona FC has announced the introduction of NFC passes at Estadi Montilivi, the second smallest stadium in LaLiga EASports. Thanks to NFC, Blanc-i-Vermells’ socios will be able to pass through the barriers with the touch of a phone to a reader, making it significantly easier and quicker to access the venue.

Innovation in Girona
Estadi Montilivi may not be able to boast a capacity in La Liga, but it can do so with modern solutions. As of this season, Girona FC is introducing the NFC technology in the stadium, announced back in June, making it easier for season pass holders to enter matches. According to the club, now socios can enter the venue more easily and quickly than ever before.
All pass holders need to do is add their pass to the Wallet app via the club's app and then apply it to the reader on the railings. The process only needs to be done once, as the pass is saved permanently. The club describes the innovation as part of its commitment to innovation, transformation of fan relations processes and fan comfort.
NFC is a technology that allows fast, contactless communication between two devices. It is used, among other things, for contactless payments with a phone. So far in Spanish football, NFC can be found at Cívitas Metropolitano, Estadio José Zorrilla, Son Moix and Mestalla. It is also used at Anfield, Emirates Stadium and Allianz Arena, SoFi Stadium and State Farm Stadium, among others.
The most interesting example of the use of NFC could be found at Kybunpark in Switzerland, as FC Sankt Gallen pass holders because the technology was installed in... scarves in the club's colours.
