The City Council of Ferrol has committed to an important infrastructure project to upgrade the lighting system at A Malata stadium, home to Racing de Ferrol. This initiative is part of a broader plan to modernize sports facilities in the city, aiming to enhance the venue's suitability for professional matches, particularly those broadcast on television. The estimated budget for the lighting project is 1.5 million euros, and it is expected to be completed within two and a half months.
Racing de Ferrol broke a record for season ticket holders that season with 8,613. Racing de Ferrol, the club using the stadium, initiated the request for these improvements, and the council has supported it by forwarding the project to the Deputación de A Coruña for funding. The project is not just focused on improving the technical capabilities of the stadium but also on boosting the overall spectator experience, bringing the venue in line with contemporary standards required for high-level sports events.

Chronology of progress in lighting efforts
The Mayor of Ferrol, José Manuel Rey Varela, reported on Monday, September 9, on the status of the project, giving a chronology of the phases through which it has passed.
On August 7, Racing sent the lighting project to supervision and two days later the municipal services sent an email to the designer indicating the additional technical issues that needed to be completed in the document. During the following week, telephone contact was maintained regarding these technical issues with the aim of speeding up or resolving any doubts that may have arisen in relation to the documentation to be completed.
Last Friday we received the tender project for the lighting of A Malata, and that same day it was supervised by the municipal technicians who approved the document, which today has allowed it to be approved in XGL and sent to the Provincial Council.
