Goal: Euro 2032

Sampdoria and Genoa, together with the municipality of Genoa, aim to own a next-generation stadium capable of hosting matches during the European Championship. The creation of this company is the first and very important step in that direction. Stadio Ferraris is owned by the municipality, and now with the formation of Genova Stadium Srl, both clubs will seek to purchase the stadium or obtain a long-term concession.

Genoa’s mayor, Marco Bucci, confirmed: We want to modernize the stadium, so we are working on this and want it to be an opportunity for the entire city. We aim to have the project ready by the end of the year and start with the administrative procedures so that we are ready for Euro 2032.

The idea has been around for a while

The plan involves working on prefabricated structures during the winter and starting the demolition of the current stadium in the summer, followed by the reconstruction of the areas covered by the renovation project. This project was developed by architect Hembert Penaranda from the firm Officina Architetti, which has offices in Milan, Genoa, and Colombia.

The new stadium will have a capacity of around 35,000 seats. The renovation project for Stadio Ferraris, built in 1911 and renovated in its current form for the 1990 World Cup, has been ready for some time. It bears the signature of Hembert Penaranda, the chief architect of Officina Architetti. This came at the request of the municipality of Genoa, and Sampdoria has also given positive feedback on the initiative.
