Italy: Return of Curva Sud against Fiorentina at Gewiss Stadium The match against Fiorentina promises to be special - the stands will be full and the cheering will return to the level that has distinguished the atmosphere at the Bergamo team's matches over the years. After a year's break, the refurbished Curva Sud returns.

No Curva Sud last season

Last season Gewiss Stadium was without the Curva Sud fans -the sector was closed due to renovation works. As a result, around 5,000 spectators were missing for each match and the visitors' sector was moved to the unusual location of one of the two press boxes, known as the cheese box. Although other stands tried to compensate for the absence of the Curva Sud, the distinctive atmosphere could not be fully recreated.

New hand at Gewiss Stadium

For the match against Fiorentina, everything will be back to normal. The stands will be filled with fans and the Curva Sud will once again be vibrant. This event will symbolically conclude the renovation phase started last June, when the Morosini sector was demolished to modernise the stadium. In the stadium, most of the work has now been completed: the roofing of the last section of the stadium, the last seats in the west stand and the big screen in the Curva Sud Morosini.

The last time fans could enjoy a full stadium was on June 4, 2023, during the Atalanta-Monza match. That encounter made history thanks to Teun Koopmeiners' magnificent goal from 50 metres, which caused euphoria in the stands.
