Increased capacity

Once construction is complete, the expanded North Stand will increase the capacity of Etihad Stadium to over 60,000 seats. The stand will feature a variety of seating options, including a large rail seating section. It will also include family zones, tickets for younger City fans, and new and renovated entrances. As part of the expansion, 3,000 rail seating spots are planned, with the possibility of increasing that number before opening if demand is higher, according to the club’s statement.

New zones for the youngest fans as well

In addition to enhancing the atmosphere, the expanded North Stand will create a legacy by paving the way for the next generation of Manchester City fans to enjoy matches at Etihad Stadium. To achieve this, we will provide a significant number of tickets specifically for fans aged 21 and under, the club announced. The facilities will also include new lounges, religious rooms, and alcohol-free zones.

The new North Stand will also feature premium areas, including a 500-seat food hall and a premium bar, replacing the previous Hospitality Boxes, which will accommodate around 300 fans. At the back of the stand, a new Sky Bar will offer seating with views of the pitch. Additionally, a new 3,000-capacity City Square fan zone is planned. Renderings also show a rooftop walkway on the expanded stand.

Part of a larger transformation

The expansion of the North Stand is part of a broader project to transform the stadium into an entertainment hub as part of the Etihad Campus. This will include a wide range of dining options, a new club store, a modern museum, office spaces, and one of the largest hotels in Manchester. The announcement of these developments is the result of extensive consultations with many fans throughout the 2023/24 season. The aim was to determine how to create best-in-class experiences that contribute to a fantastic matchday atmosphere, the club’s official website states.
