Spain: Mallorca introduces NFC technology at Son Moix RCD Mallorca is aiming to make Son Moix one of LaLiga's most modern stadiums. In order to achieve this, it has joined a small group of clubs whose fans, instead of using traditional tickets or scanning QR codes, can use their phone to the gate to enter the match.

On Tuesday, RCD Mallorca published videos on its channel explaining how socios will be able to enter Son Moix using NFC technology. In doing so, it has joined an exclusive group of venues because, apart from the Mallorcan arena, in the Spanish league the solution is only used at Cívitas Metropolitano, Estadio José Zorrilla, Estadi Montilivi and Mestalla.

Other venues equipped with NFC technology include Anfield, Emirates Stadium and Allianz Arena, but also the American SoFi Stadium and State Farm Stadium. The most interesting example of the use of this technology, however, comes not from the big clubs, but from FC Sankt Gallen in Switzerland, as season ticket holders were able to enter Kybunpark using... scarves in the club's colours that had NFC chips sewn into them.

NFC is a contactless technology that allows communication between two devices. It is used, among other things, for contactless payments with a phone. It will make its debut on Son Moix on August 10, when RCD Mallorca will take on Bologna FC as hosts in a match for the Ciutat de Palma trophy.
