Italy: Second “americana” beam in place. Gewiss Stadium renovation nearly complete Thursday, August 8, was a significant day for the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo. The American beam was installed over the central stand. Since July 6, the “twin” above Rinascimento had been waiting for the second part of the lighting system to be positioned precisely as its mirror image.

The steel beam, 94 meters long and weighing 60 tons, arrived in five sections before being lifted as a whole and suspended at the outer points of the roof of both arches above the stand. The lifting from the ground to the installation level took only a few minutes, but securing the six joints required many hours. This was because the horizontal movement needed to align the roof holes with the three connectors, forming a triangle with approximately 3.5-meter sides, took time, as explained by Matteo Ortolan, production manager at Maeg Costruzioni, the general contractor.

The installation of this beam marks the completion of Maeg's contract for the stadium's renovation—a project that required meticulous planning and special attention to technical details. By September 15, the stadium grounds must be entirely cleared and ready to welcome fans for the 4th matchday of Serie A. Once completed, Gewiss Stadium will offer visitors an even better experience, solidifying its position among the most modern sports facilities in Italy.
