Lack of artefacts will not delay construction

The Roman authorities are getting closer to the project to build a new stadium for AS Roma in Pietralata district. One of the main challenges has been potential archaeological discoveries that could delay or even block the project. As a result, a detailed survey of the site was carried out to uncover possible historical finds.

As Il Messaggero reports, the results of these surveys proved favourable to the investors. It has been established that there are no significant archaeological finds, such as pottery fragments or ancient materials, in the area earmarked for the stadium. This means that there is no need to make additional modifications to the project or carry out additional safety work. This decision has been officially confirmed by Soprintendenza, allowing construction preparations to continue. However, final confirmation will be possible once Roma's technicians have gained access to the last areas surveyed. It seems to be only a matter of time.

New visualisations of Pietralata stadium

The design of AS Roma's stadium is being developed by Populous, a company that has already worked with the football club. The new stadium is expected to evoke the architecture of ancient Rome, with a facade formed by vertical slats and pillars. Inside, the stands will be able to accommodate 60,000 spectators and a unique feature will be the new single-storey Curva Sud. The facility will be equipped with state-of-the-art technology, combining elements of the club's tradition and history with modernity, innovation and sustainability.
