Italy: Como prepares for Serie A return. Costs increase Como is preparing to start the Serie A season. The stadium is undergoing modernization to meet licensing requirements. The club has gained some time by playing their first three matches away from home. The official return to their home ground is scheduled for September 15th.

Safety first

The primary goal of the renovation is to increase the stadium's capacity. Newly promoted teams are allowed a stadium capacity of 10,584 seats, but ultimately Sinigaglia Stadium will need to accommodate at least 12,000 spectators. On August 8th, new blue seats with white inserts forming the large word Como were installed in the Distinti section.

The municipality has been tasked with creating a monitoring system connected to the police headquarters, covering the area of the northern Grandate parking lot and the roads used by buses. The company Electronic System Srl was chosen to build the video surveillance station for a total cost of €57,000.

Higher costs, but on schedule

The fee that Como 1907 must pay to the Como municipality for the use of Stadio Sinigaglia has increased from €95,800 to €205,910. This was decided by the Rapinese council in a special resolution passed during a session held on July 31. The revision of this fee was anticipated in the concession agreement, which stipulates an adjustment if the team is promoted to Serie A.

Como has also requested an additional increase in the allocated space to 1,589 square meters due to, as stated in a municipal document, specific investments aimed at improving and redeveloping the infrastructure necessary to adapt the sports facility to Serie A requirements. The technical department of the Municipality recalculated the property's value, noting that although the complex has not yet reached full usability, it has already expanded from an original capacity of 4,900 seats to 7,498.

Additionally, given that the roads around the stadium are closed to traffic and parking, the municipality states that it seems appropriate for Como 1907 to compensate Como Servizi Urbani for lost revenue.
