Six months after Real Sociedad's Champions League appearance, Reale Arena is hosting another event with ‘Champions’ in the name. From July 11 to 21, the Reale Arena is transformed into the world's biggest burger restaurant. The event aims to determine the best restaurant serving burgers in Spain.

Competition of culinary champions

The Champions Burger attracts both national and international talent. In addition to the best Spanish burger restaurants, this year's edition will also feature representatives from various European countries, competing for the title of the best burger restaurant in Europe.

The festival, initiated by a group of young entrepreneurs from Valencia, will visit 16 cities across Spain in 2024, including Reale Arena in San Sebastián, a treat for lovers of food. Due to the success of previous editions, which were attended by more than 1,250,000 people and more than 150 restaurants, the championship was expanded from Valencia to 16 cities in 2024. In this year's fifth edition, events have already taken place in Murcia, Cordoba, Alicante, Zaragoza, Las Rozas (Madrid), Barcelona, Seville, Valencia and Valladolid, reaching more than 700,000 visitors.

Stopover: stadium in San Sebastián

The festival started on July 11 at 7pm, with the opening ceremony half an hour later. Entrance to the event is free and entry to the stadium is via the north car park. From Monday to Thursday the festival will be open from 18:00 to 00:30, while on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays it will be open from 12:00 to 00:30.

More than 20 food trucks from all over Spain iscompeting for the title of the best burger joint. The public will be able to judge the burgers on the quality of the meat, bread, combination of ingredients, presentation and originality. The two best-scoring restuaurants (one from San Sebastián and one from the other cities) will take part in The Champions Burger 2024 final competition in the autumn.

Participants will include: Soul Coffee Beer, Gottan, Circo, El Tarantín Chiflado, Vacarnal, The Berty's, Nola Smoke, Umbrella, Torriko, Street Food, Dak Burger, Dava, Kai, Bobby's, Gose, Tximist, La Muralla, Jenkin's, Guinness Burger and Moflete. In addition, food trucks will also include Cheeck's (specialising in chicken), Ybarra truck (with fries) and Doritos (with a variety of nachos).

A Hall of Burger zone will be available at the festival, where it will be possible to sample the propositions of restaurants that have won titles in previous editions. This zone will include La Muralla and Jenkin's, which won in 2023, as well as a proposal from the winner of the 11th edition of MasterChef in Spain, Eneko Fernández. There will be special attractions for the youngest attendees, and dessert stands for sweet lovers, including unique cheese tarts from Las Torres de Ciriaco.
