Two phases of redevelopment
Celtic Football Club has submitted new plans for the expansion of its training centre at Barrowfield to Glasgow City Council. The club intends to enhance the infrastructure of its centre with plans to build separate buildings for security and management at the entrance to the facility. These plans follow on from previously approved projects which included the construction of an indoor training facility, modular changing rooms, gym, reception area and medical first aid room.
In addition, Celtic has submitted a further application for planning consent for a second modular facility to house offices, changing rooms and a canteen. This application is currently being considered by Glasgow City Council's planning department.
The extended facilities at Barrowfield are to be used primarily for the B team and the Celtic women's team. The women's team currently train at Barrowfield but continue to use Celtic Park as a base for part of their training and changing rooms.
Ryden's view
These new facilities at Barrowfield will ensure modern fit for purpose facilities are available, meeting the requirements of Celtic FC and also importantly football governing bodies. This new state of the art training complex demonstrates Celtic’s commitment to the east end of Glasgow and to maintain a significant presence in the local community
