Poznań: Where will Warta play? Club owner comments on issue Discussions about the future of Warta Poznań have been ongoing for several weeks. Numerous entities have voiced their opinions, including an official statement from Lech Poznań regarding Warta playing at the Enea Stadium. It is now officially confirmed that an agreement for renting the municipal stadium will not be reached. So, where will Warta play, and in which league?

Lack of community agreement

A few days ago, Warta announced that they had asked the PZPN Licensing Commission to extend the deadline for submitting the application for a license to play in the Betclic 1st League. It has become clear that Warta needs to find another solution, specifically another stadium, since playing at the Enea Stadium is no longer an option. Club owner Bartłomiej Farjaszewski published an open letter to all fans explaining the current situation at the club.

Unfortunately, the future of Warta Poznań will not be linked with the Municipal Stadium, which I deeply regret. I believed that in a city like Poznań, it was possible for two teams to operate at one venue. As a club, we made every effort to ensure that joint derby matches were important events for the residents of Poznań and Greater Poland. However, it turned out that this was not enough to convince the community that Warta Poznań could play its matches at the municipal venue, he wrote.

Return to “Ogródek”?

Today, I can say that I still believe in this project. But for this vision to come true and for Warta to play at our old stadium, the involvement of the Poznań authorities is essential. Therefore, I ask – without emotions and unnecessary tensions – for support and dialogue in continuing the vision of the club's development. I am not asking for financial aid for Warta, but for a constructive conversation and for bringing the facility at Droga Dębińska 12 to a condition that would allow for central league matches to be played there in the next season, i.e., 2024/2025. I want Warta Poznań to play its first match at Droga Dębińska in the coming months. Because this is where our club belongs, Farjaszewski appeals, while emphasizing that the current infrastructure only allows for play at the IV league level.

City wants to help

The recent assurances from President Jędrzej Solarski and city officials about their willingness to bring the facility at DD12 to a state where 1st league matches could be played there are positive.

The city has offered to help adapt the stadium at Droga Dębińska 12, managed by Poznań Sports and Recreation Centers, to meet the needs of the 1st league. Warta Poznań has already begun discussions on the schedule of work and the financing plan for these actions.

The club hopes that cooperation with the Licensing Commission and support from local authorities will allow for a quick and effective resolution of infrastructure problems, enabling the Greens to return to Poznań. However, cooperation with the Licensing Commission will be crucial – the work at Droga Dębińska will certainly take a lot of time. Until then, the club would need to get permission to play elsewhere. The Dyskobolia Stadium in Grodzisk Wielkopolski is a possibility. This could be the biggest problem, as representatives of the association signaled openly several weeks ago that the grace period is over, and Warta must return to Poznań.
