Algeria: Stade de Douera and Stade de Tizi-Ouzou opening soon? Two new stadiums are being prepared for inauguration in Algeria - in Douera and Tizi Wuzu. These facilities are expected to be ready for the coming summer. Their opening will be an important step in the development of the country's sporting infrastructure, enabling the hosting of major sporting events and raising standards for local football teams and fans.

Two new Algerian jewels

Douera Stadium, which will most likely be named after Ali Ammar, will have a capacity of 40,000. The authorities are placing great emphasis on its modernity and functionality. The project includes not only a football stadium, but also numerous facilities for players and fans. The auditorium will be fully covered and the end sections of the roof will be glazed. There will be two video screens above the stands behind the goals. The seating will be mainly in shades of red (upper level) and green (lower level), referring to the colours of Mouloudia Club d'Alger.

At the same time, Stade de Tizi-Ouzou is being built in Tizi Wuzu that will accommodate 50,000 spectators and is expected to become the arena for the region's most important football competition. Advanced, by African standards, infrastructure is expected to attract not only local but also international organisers of sporting events. The facility will be equipped with a range of amenities, including VIP boxes, media rooms, restaurants and a museum. There will also be a stadium with an athletics track and grandstand for 6,000 spectators, as well as numerous car parks.

Key visit by president

The President of Algeria, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, will play a key role in the opening of the stadium in Douera. On July 4, his visit is planned, during which he will conduct a final inspection of the facility. As part of the visit, the president will assess the technical condition of the stadium and check that all work has been carried out as intended. In parallel with the visit to Douera, a visit to Tizi Wuzu is also likely to take place.

The inauguration of the stadium is expected to be symbolic, with the president giving the first signal to start using this state-of-the-art facility. Test matches were held in the new Algerian stadiums a few weeks ago. The decision to personally involve the president underlines the importance the authorities attach to the development of sport in Algeria.
