CD Castellón's home venue is in for a significant upgrade. The City of Castellón plans to invest up to €49 million over the next few years. Divided into four phases, the project involves transforming the stadium into a modern, safe and sustainable facility that meets the highest European standards. In addition, the city has officially handed over the stadium to the club for use.

Club's agreement with city
Castellón City Council unanimously approved a resolution to hand over Estadi Castalia to the CD Castellón team for 50 years. The agreement includes a 50-year rent for the stadium with the obligation to pay an annual rent that can be offset by investments in the facility. The rent depends on the club's commercial revenues and ranges from 3.5% to 6% of those revenues, with a limit of up to €300,000 per year.

There are several key arrangements that the new resolution introduces. Examples and the most important ones are:
- A supervisory committee - a committee made up of representatives from all political parties that will monitor the implementation of the agreement and the club's investments.
- Investment plan - CD Castellón has committed to presenting an investment plan for the stadium. The club will also be responsible for reporting regularly on the progress of the work.
- New sports infrastructure - The city has committed to support the club in the construction of a new sports complex for youth and junior teams.
- Promoting social values - Castalia Stadium will be a place that promotes values such as equality, social inclusion and non-violence. It will be a space free of discrimination, respecting the official languages of the region such as Valencian.
There is a consensus among politicians from different political parties in Spain on this issue. All are happy with the decision that has been taken, giving their support to the idea and stressing the importance of the stadium for the city.
Four phases of arena modernisation
The €2 million investment includes upgrading the lighting and monitoring systems, rebuilding the players' tunnel and creating an anti-doping room. In the first part, these works are to be completed during the first three seasons in the professional game.
The second Phase involves an investment of €5 million to improve spectator comfort, including replacing seats and upgrading fan areas. The implementation of this phase is planned for the third and fourth years following the start of work.
The most ambitious part of the plan is the €35 million investment to prepare the stadium for Primera Division play. This includes the expansion of the stadium to a capacity of 20,000-25,000, subject to the team remaining in professional competition for four seasons and an average attendance above 90%.
The final phase focuses on sustainability and energy efficiency. The €7 million investment includes the installation of solar panels and rainwater harvesting systems to reduce reliance on non-renewable energy sources and minimise the carbon footprint.
Funding for this ambitious project is expected to come from a variety of sources, including the club's operating income, bank loans, capital contributions, grants and sponsorships.
