Reduced capacity
Instead of the usual 47,069 seats available during Bundesliga matches, only 42,000 seats will be available for use during the European Championship. This reduction is due to the installation of seats in Section B, which is typically used as a standing area. A media area with 300 desks will also be created. These changes will make the Leipzig stadium the smallest venue of Euro 2024. Despite the reduced seating for spectators, there will be more space for the teams competing in the group stage and quarterfinals. Two additional benches, each accommodating 30 people, will be installed on the pitch.
Ensuring safety
To create a security zone, 1.1 km of fencing has been installed around the stadium, along with six kilometers of fiber optic cable and 87 routers. Key areas of the facility have been equipped with generators in case of power outages. Out of the 1,600 volunteers working throughout Leipzig during the European Championship, around 1,000 will be stationed at and around the stadium. Additionally, 70 permanent staff members will be employed at the venue.
