EURO 2024: Clash and waterfall before the Georgia-Turkey match The Group F match between Georgia and Turkey was scheduled at 18:00, but the atmosphere was not good from the start. And that was both in the sense of the weather and in the sense of the attitude of the fans, as the supporters at Signal Iduna Park were greeted by a downpour that the roof could not cope with, followed by a brawl between some of the supporters of both national teams.

Old Trafford at Euro?

The group stage match between Georgia and Turkey at BVB Stadion Dortmund was set for 18:00 on June 18, but reports of a downpour that ”overcame” Borussia's stadium began to flow in around 17:00. Streams of water began to flood the stands from one corner.

According to journalist Daniel Storey, additional water drains have already been opened, but the flooded sector has been completely deserted and the security services are trying to sweep the water into the open outlets.

Clash in the rain

This is not the end of the problems in Dortmund, as fights broke out between Georgian and Turkish supporters at a similar time. First all sorts of objects went in motion, or rather in flight, and then a regular brawl began. There were not enough security guards on site to control the situation, but the arrival of a police unit of dozens of officers prevented further fighting.

There were dozens of hooligans on both sides and, in addition to the police, what prevented the situation from escalating was the fact that in order to break through to the opposite sector, one had to go down to the corner, which made it difficult to enter the stand occupied by the fans of the opposite team. Despite these incidents, the match wasn’t postponed.
