Poland: Will Warta Return to Poznań? Recently, Bartłomiej Farjaszewski, the owner of Warta Poznań, appeared on Poznańska Telewizja Informacyjna (WTK). One of the main topics of discussion was, of course, the new stadium. The creation of a multifunctional facility with low maintenance costs seems necessary for Poznań. Will this happen?

There's tender

In March, on the Poznań City Investments website under Public Procurements, a notification was posted regarding the intention to conduct market consultations for the implementation titled Construction of the Warta Poznań S.A. football club stadium in a PPP (Public-Private Partnership) formula. PIM (Poznań City Investments) has developed an Information Memorandum for potential investors interested in building a facility for Warta Poznań, including all facilities and area development under a public-private partnership. This formula involves the division of tasks and risks between a private company or investor and the city and Poznań City Investments. The estimated duration of the PPP Agreement will be approximately 23 years, including a 36-month Investment Stage and a 20-year Management Stage. If everything goes according to plan, Warta could enjoy their new stadium in about six years.

Will they use existing visualization?

Some time ago, Warta Poznań presented a concept for a new stadium. The facility is supposed to meet the requirements of the PKO BP Ekstraklasa, with 4,500 seats, 968 parking spaces, 5 spaces for buses, 415 spots for bicycles, 2 training fields, and a pneumatic hall with an artificial surface. The estimated cost is nearly 260 million PLN. The final form and scope of the new stadium for Warta will be determined after gathering feedback and suggestions during market testing. This is expected to happen in April.

Or maybe Enea Stadion?

In a report prepared by Grant Thornton and Ekstraklasa S.A., the company managing the league, it was noted that in the previous season, Warta generated only 0.64 million PLN in match-day revenue, while the league's average was 7.6 million PLN. Having their own facility would turn Warta's financial result (around minus 0.2 million) positive - a feat achieved by only a few PKO BP Ekstraklasa clubs. Poznań already has a stadium suitable for the Ekstraklasa, used by Lech. However, it is not adapted for two teams. It is very expensive to maintain, whereas Warta's stadium is intended to be zero-emission, practical, and serving the community.

The Lech stadium is the Lech stadium. Everyone wants to have their own home. Warta's place has always been by Drogowa Street. Besides, we don't want such a big home as Lech's. We are counting on a modest, intimate, highly functional, and cost-effective facility in a location historically associated with Warta, emphasizes Bartłomiej Farjaszewski.

Change of headquarters

Currently, Warta Poznań plays its matches at the Stadion Dyskobolii Grodzisk Wielkopolski, opened in 1925, which can accommodate 5,383 people. In recent days, there have been reports that as of April 30th of this year, Warta will officially change its headquarters to Grodzisk. This will certainly facilitate the licensing paperwork, but it has left some associated with the club feeling uneasy. What's next? Changing the name to Warta Grodzisk Wielkopolski? wonder fans on the X portal.
