Clubs are in agreement
Some time ago, representatives of Sampdoria and Genoa CFC met with the leaders of the Genoa municipality, from Mayor Bucci, through councilor for public works Piciocchi, to councilor for sports Alessandra Bianchi. All this to reach an agreement on the future of the Stadio Comunale Luigi Ferraris.
The purpose of the meeting was to familiarize themselves with the proposal for the stadium renovation project, make it more useful for fans, and adapt it to the requirements necessary to apply for the hosting of Euro 2032.Sampdoria and Genoa would be ready to collaborate to provide the city with a magnificent facility.
According to the municipal authorities' press release, the groundwork has been laid for the swift approval of an extraordinary stadium renovation project. We would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude to the mayor, who continues to make a fundamental contribution to finalizing an important chapter not only in sports but also with great social impact,

Matteo Manfredi, coownerof Sampdoria, also spoke out on the matter through the official club website: We are pleased. The modernization of the 'Ferraris' is a cornerstone. We thank the administration for their active participation in laying the groundwork for the stadium's renovation. We have a schedule ahead full of challenges but also great opportunities. In the coming weeks, we will engage our efforts in a common goal, which is the fastest possible development and definition of a project of fundamental importance, capable of meeting the needs not only of both teams and the city but above all the needs of our fans, who always deserve the club's attention.
The project is ready
The meeting took place at the end of February; at this point, the final renovation project has not yet been officially presented, although in late December 2023, photos of the initial renovation project, developed by the Penaranda studio, appeared online.
Its idea is to transform the stadium into a modern facility for organizing international sports events. The capacity will be increased to 33,000 seats, and the highest floor of the stands will be entirely glazed, creating a modern space capable of accommodating up to 3,000 square meters of sky boxes. The stairwell will be moved outside, and the stadium's four corners will also be glazed to accommodate commercial activity.
It is estimated that the construction work will last for 4 years, and during the modernization, the teams will continue to play at Ferraris. The investment cost is approximately €60-80 million. At this point, it is not known to what extent this project has been accepted by both clubs.
