The stadium where RCD Mallorca plays its matches has undergone an incredible transformation. The renovation started in May 2022 and was carried out in four stages to ensure that the facility could still serve the team. After twenty months of work, the old stadium is now among the most modern arenas in Europe.

Farewell to running track
One of the most important demands of the fans in Mallorca was the removal of running track at the stadium and bringing the stands closer to the pitch to enhance the comfort of watching matches. This distance has been reduced by 45 meters, and the side stands are now only 9 meters from the pitch. Currently, three out of four stands with a total capacity of just over 23,000 seats are open, but soon the last stand will be put into use. It will be called "L’Infern1916," a stand where cheering with a capacity of 2,760 seats is conducted almost throughout the entire match.
The four stands, each unique, will accommodate 26,020 spectators, making it the largest capacity ever for a sports facility in Mallorca. A canopy was added above the upper part of the east stand, arches were removed, and replaced with additional usable space.
Multifunctional space
An older fan can come to the stands with their sandwich, and someone who wants to experience football from a different perspective will find it in the VIP Hospitality zone,
says Alfonso Díaz, general manager of Real Mallorca, who has overseen the work from day one. The Balearic club offers a range of options for all audience members, from seats at the foot of the field next to benches to corporate boxes with a panoramic view of the field. Fans will also be able to enjoy hospitality areas with a gastronomic offer. The stadium will also have a sports bar, replacing the MallorCafé, a gym, and a restaurant where you can eat while contemplating the field and Serra de Tramuntana. These facilities will be located in The Premium Club, an intermediate hospitality zone below the restaurant. To liven up the stadium and boost revenue, plans are underway to organize fairs and concerts at the venue.
First test
The official inauguration of the facility will take place on January 13 at 4:15 PM when RCD Mallorca takes on Celta Vigo. Over 26,000 fans will have the opportunity to watch the match at the renovated Son Moix stadium, which has radically changed its appearance compared to the one that was opened (although it never had an official inauguration) 25 years ago.
The commitment of the club owners at all levels, both socially and economically, along with their vision for the future, has made the renovation possible. Mallorca is funding the refurbishment through the La Liga Impulso program associated with the CVC fund, in which La Liga provides cash in the form of a mortgage loan. The total cost of the renovation will amount to €24 million. An additional €5 million will be allocated by the club for the professionalization of the infrastructure used daily by the first team.
