It seems Dublin will have another stadium capable of becoming one of its landmarks. Dalymount Park will get a new lease of life. Interestingly, a new design has been prepared, although the previous one cost close to £1 million.

Does Dublin need a new stadium?
The number of modern football venues on the Green Isle does not inspire universal acclaim. Apart from Aviva Stadium being the home of the Irish national team, and Croke Park, the temple of Gaelic football, it is hard to point out other arenas whose infrastructure matches these two giants. In 2018, the concept of upgrading and expanding Dalymount Park used by Bohemian F.C. was conceived – one of the most recognisable and successful teams in the country. Interestingly, the plan was for their local and biggest rival Shelbourne F.C. to move into the stadium.
For fans of both teams, this would certainly not be a comfortable situation. To cool down their emotions, they could take advantage of the special bonuses waiting for them at the best online casino. In this way, they could at least forget for a while about this ill-conceived idea of moving one of the clubs. But it turns out that, more than five years after the first renders of the Dalymount Park expansion were presented, this idea may no longer be valid.
The media silence has been broken for the first time since 2021, as new reports have finally emerged regarding the planned development. According to information published on ArchDaily.com, Dublin City Council (DCC), the owner of the site, has approved the new design prepared by IDOM and Gilroy McMahon Architects. Procedural matters are already underway, as the application for planning permission is already at the city's planning department.
Dalymount Park will be a modern facility
The new design envisages that the redeveloped Dalymount Park will be even larger than in the previous concept. Instead of the 6,000 seats originally forecasted, the stands are to seat 8,034, with this change allowing the arena to apply for UEFA top-four category status. The new plan for the North Dublin venue also differs in how the stadium itself will look. Here, the focus is on maintaining the rectangular shape of the stands by dispensing with many of the glass elements. The façade is to be dominated by classic red brick.
It is worth mentioning that the largest will be the sectors located parallel to the pitch. Behind the goals there will be two small stands to enclose the body of the arena. Of course, there will also be new space in the form of changing rooms for the players, administrative facilities for the club's staff, a fan gadget shop and bar and catering space. In addition, a gymnasium is to be incorporated into one of the stands, also serving as a social area.
At this point, we do not know how much the upgrade of Dalymount Park will cost. All that is known is that the plan is to complete construction in 2026. Interestingly, according to reports in ArchDaily.com, Bohemian F.C is to remain the only host of the stadium. This would mean that Shelbourne F.C. will remain at the desolate Tolka Park. It can be inferred that the plan to demolish it and sell the land will not go ahead for the time being.
