This year's Christmas caroling at Borussia Dortmund's stadium made history. The fans of Black-and-Yellows significantly raised the bar for other Christmas events by gathering an unprecedented number of carol singers in one place.

BVB ground full of stars and Christmas trees - a special atmosphere in Dortmund
The home of last season’s Bundesliga runners-up was lit up by tens of thousands of lights during the annual singing of carols for charity. The 'Dortmund Sings Christmas Carols' campaign raises funds every Christmas to help foundations and social organisations from the local area.
However, 2023 has become a special year for the organisers. This time, Signal Iduna Park accommodated as many as 73,053 fans. According to the German institute RID (Rekord-Institut für Deutschland), this is the best result in the world so far for carol-singing events. On behalf of Borussia Dortmund, I would like to thank you, the fans for 2023. Your support was incredible,
BVB’s managing director Carsten Cramer said.
The audience in the stands witnessed an interactive spectacle. The text of each of the carols sung was shown on the stadium pitch with a laser show, and the entire venue was decorated with festive Christmas trees. In addition, Signal Iduna Park's main lighting was dimmed in favour of tens of thousands of small lights brought in by fans. Both carols and Borussia Dortmund chants resounded, along with the well-known song 'You'll Never Walk Alone'.
Day of records and aid
Germany's largest stadium has added another record to its collection. In addition to bringing together the largest number of carol singers, the venue also helped to raise more than €100,000. The entire sum will be distributed, among others, to the BVB Learning Centre and an organisation looking after the homeless in Dortmund.
Signal Iduna Park is in for another major event, with EURO 2024 at the forefront. See all German stadiums that will host the European championship.
