Allegiant Stadium is one of the most modern venues in the world. Construction of the facility began on November 13, 2017 and took just over 2.5 years to complete, an excellent result for an investment of this scale. It finished on schedule on July 31, 2020. The total construction cost was $2.03 billion. The first game in the new stadium was on September 21, 2020, in which the hosts of the arena, Las Vegas Raiders defeated the New Orleans Saints 34-24.
The ultra-modern facility is expected to host many important sports events in the near future, including the Super Bowl in early 2024, and NCAA Final Four in 2028. Are you a sports fan and planning a trip to America with friends soon? Everyone who wants to visit the US needs a valid travel authorisation. The ESTA is an electronic travel authorisation, which allows you to visit the United States without a visa.
As part of its commitment to sustainable policies and programmes that minimise environmental impact, Allegiant Stadium announced that it has been awarded LEED Gold certification by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is the world's most widely used green building rating system and an international symbol of excellence. Allegiant Stadium is now one of seven NFL stadiums to have achieved LEED certification.
Sustainability initiatives at the stadium, which opened almost three years ago, include a focus on materials and resources, sustainable sites, water efficiency, energy and atmosphere, indoor environmental quality and transportation. Specific approaches have included the use of highly efficient indoor toilets, LED lighting, robust indoor climate control monitoring systems, minimising the use of herbicides and pesticides for pest control and improved waste disposal practices.
Samantha Johnson, senior vice president of sales and leader of the sustainability efforts at Allegiant Stadium, said: As sports and entertainment industry leaders, our comprehensive sustainability initiatives have set the bar and greatly benefited the Las Vegas community and our clients.
Krystle Johnson, owner of Alder Tree Consulting, which provided consultancy services for Allegiant Stadium on its sustainable efforts, added: Throughout the Allegiant Stadium LEED application process, we saw first-hand the dedication put in by multiple stadium departments to achieve this goal. This award directly reflects the staff’s combined efforts and dedication to the Allegiant Stadium Sustainability Program, and we are only just beginning.
