Blaugrana goes vegan
The Catalan club's women's section plays its matches at Estadi Johan Cruyff, which can hold 6,000 spectators. The facility is located in Sant Joan Despí, in the western suburbs of Barcelona, some 8.5km west of Spotify Camp Nou. The stadium opened in 2019 and, in addition to the women's team, it also plays host to FC Barcelona reserve team. The club's governing body has just announced the conclusion of a new sponsorship deal that brings big changes to the arena under the patronage of the legendary Johan Cruyff.
Heura Foods has just become the new partner of Barça Femení. The popular meat substitute brand will support the women's section for the next three seasons. The partnership involves offering fans new plant-based food options. The logo of the company, based in Barcelona, will appear on the stadium's LED screens during matches. In addition to the vegan restaurant and branding at the venue, Heura will also have hospitality and association rights with the women’s team.
New spark for Barcelona
The partners are expecting a lot from the new collaboration. It is heard that the deal is expected to "fuel women's football". The men's team is widely recognised around the world and it is time for such success to happen for Barça Femení too.
The Blaugrana has not been off the lips of the footballing world since Robert Lewandowski donned its jersey. Many fans will certainly want to see the revamped team live in action. Perhaps they will also take the opportunity to indulge in a vegan gastronomic offer when they go to the women's match at Estadi Johan Cruyff?

The women's section definitely has something to boast about. Female footballers have won the Spanish Women's Championship title on as many as seven occasions, including the last three consecutive seasons. Add to that a seven-time triumph in the Copa de la Reina and victory in the 2021 Women's Champions League.
The attendance record for a women's football match also belongs to Barça Femení. On March 30, 2022, during the Champions League quarter-final return match against Real Madrid Femenino, as many as 91,553 fans were seated in the stands at Camp Nou! This record was already broken in the next round of these competitions, when the semi-final clash between Barcelona and VfL Wolfsburg at the same venue was watched by 91 648 spectators.
Women's football is growing in strength
This year's women's Euro, held on English grounds, attracted a record number of fans to the stadiums. All matches were attended by more than 500 000 people! The final at Wembley alone, between England and Germany, was watched from the stands by nearly 90,000 football fans. This means that the previous attendance record of 240,055, set at the 2017 European Championships, was more than doubled! Significantly, nearly half of the spectators in the stands were women. Women's football is thriving and we hope that such match audiences will become the norm in the future.
