Spain: Tender awarded for Fuenlabrada stadium expansion

The Fuenlabrada City Council has awarded a contract for the design and execution of works to expand Estadio Fernando Torres, home of the LaLiga2 side, CF Fuenlabrada. The main goal of the project is to increase the venue capacity to 6,600 spectators.

The work will only take 14 months
Once this step is done, the contractor company will draw up the final design of the facility and start work immediately afterwards. The budget for the entire project is €6.5 million and will be spent on creating new stands and equipping the pitch with all the necessary upgrades. The objective is to meet all the requirements of professional football competitions according to the Royal Spanish Football Federation and the National Professional Football League.

The entire redevelopment is expected to be completed in 14 months, four of which will be devoted to drawing up the project plan and 10 months to the entire construction. However, all renovation work will be carried out in such a way as not to affect regular sporting events at the stadium.

Compact Estadio Fernando Torres, with a capacity of 5,400 spectators, is a multi-purpose facility located in Fuenlabrada, which is part of the so-called Community of Madrid, Spain. It is currently used for football matches and is the home stadium of CF Fuenlabrada. Founded in 1975, the team currently plays in the second division of Spanish football called Segunda División.
The expansion works will allow for the installation of new stands to increase the current capacity, while the stadium will also boast extensive facilities to support professional competitions. The press area will be improved and a new lighting system will be installed around the venue to allow the television broadcast of each match according to the parameters set by the federation and the league's technicians.
