Media reports that Allianz has secured the naming rights at this state-of-the-art venue for AUS $36 million. For this insurance giant this deal is the latest addition to a global portfolio of stadium partnerships spanning Germany, the US, Austria, Italy, Brazil and France.

Today, the stadium is in its final phase of construction. The target capacity is 42,500 fans and the venue will continue to be the home ground of Sydney FC, the Sydney Roosters and the NSW Waratahs men’s and women’s teams. The arena will also host major matches for national teams in all age categories and will be a part of the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup.

There was a time when the construction of the new facility was in serious doubt. It seemed better to gamble in one of the safest Aussie casino sites than to bet on when the stadium would be ready. At one point it turned out that the supposed contractor decided not to build the venue. And it turned out there was no contract in place that would bind him… In the end, however, things went well and construction started at full speed.

The stadium was designed with sustainability in mind. Nearly 87 percent of the waste from the demolition of the previous Sydney Footbal Stadium, which stood on the same site, was recycled. The roof was designed in a revolutionary way, using 40 percent less steel than a typical facility of this size.

The designers also took care to promote green transport. They included charging stations for electric vehicles, bicycle parking, public transport stops and a path leading from the railway station directly to the stadium.

Sydney's new football stadium will have three tiers of seating on each side and two levels at the ends. Thanks to the steep incline of the stands, all seating will guarantee good visibility and a sense of being close to the events on the pitch.
