Though the stadium should have been ready by the end of 2017, work is still underway. Most tasks are nearing the finish line, though quite a lot is yet to be done at the most decorative feature: its dome.

General contractor of Samara Arena has officially informed about state of most works still ongoing on the site. “Internal engineering is in the final stage. Water supply and sanitation is 90% ready, electricity at 89%, while low-current installation at 72%.” said a spokesman for PSO Kazan.

The company, which was recently sued by Russian Sports Ministry, still has a lot to do on the stadium's signature feature: the roof. Currently prepared in 74%, the structure still lacks its transparent cladding around the inner edge.
Worth keeping in mind, the building was initially expected to have almost all of its roof covered with PTFE to allow much more light inside. Now, however, as a cost-cutting measure, the building is covered almost entirely with tin.
This spoils the aesthetic effect, especially inside. Contrast between the roof and stand is growing along with the number of seats being installed. The 40,000+ seats are coming in three colours: green, white and blue. This of course honours Krylya Sovetov, one of Russia's most popular clubs outside Moscow.
