The newest American football team is now on its way to play the first game at its new stadium in March 2018! Banc of California Stadium officially goes under construction.

When it was presented for the first time, it was simply named LAFC Stadium. A lot has changed since that presentation in 2015, just to mention the club’s colours (now black and gold). But from now on we’ll know the planned stadium as Banc of California Stadium. Not yet revealed how much the naming rights deal was worth, but it’s here to stay.
Partnership with Banc of California was announced on an even more special occasion as LAFC broke ground on the new stadium just hours ago. This means we can now count down the months before it opens in March 2018, following just over 1.5 year under construction.

The 22,000-seat stadium will be build along one of Los Angeles’ most famous streets, Figueroa, just beside the LA Memorial Coliseum. It will rise 85 feet (26m) above Figueroa St, revealing the fluent outer form to thousands of drivers every day. Translucent cover will be created with 17,700 m2 (190,000 square feet) of ETFE film.

Designed by renowned architecture office Gensler, the stadium won’t only offer a modern design. It’s also focused on atmosphere and sustainability. To improve the first, fans will be placed as close as 12 feet (4m!) from the field, while stands will be as steep as 34°, almost as steep as can be safely used. As for sustainability, the stadium should receive no less than a LEED Silver Certificate.
