News headlines in Romania today suggest that Rapid Bucharest submitted plans for a new stadium to the National Investment Fund (CNI). The building would be erected within the existing Giuleşti site and hold 18,000 fans in completely new enclosure.
The scheme is supposedly under evaluation already as an effort to gain public funding, or so suggests DigiSport.ro. The stadium would have slightly over 600 parking spaces, part in on multi-level site.
However we had a feeling we’ve seen it somewhere, when the image was first released. And in fact we have seen it. If Rapid filed any documents, then surely this rendering doesn’t present the actual stadium in question. It’s actually the Borisov Arena pasted into the Bucharest site.
