Monday gave an end to issue dating back many months. 1. FC Kaiserslautern and the city of Kaiserslautern reached an agreement over stadium use. It was signed retroactively from July 1, 2014.
As part of the deal the club will pay an annual fee of €2.4 million ($2.7m) for the right to use Fritz-Walter-Stadion. Should they win back promotion to the Bundesliga, fees increase by 50% per annum.
Last year the club expressed will to renegotiate terms of lease as they were burdened by high costs since relegation in 2012. However at the same time some residents felt the club should not be privileged and needs to pay accordingly for the infrastructure used.
