The Gravesham Borough Council has granted planning permission for complete redevelopment of Stonebridge Road’s main grandstand. The permission also includes outline plans for three remaining stands. Once the club wants to go forward with them, additional documents need to be submitted.
A report by planners concluded the redevelopment would contribute greatly to the neighbourhood. It concluded that the proposals for the redevelopment were "well considered and well designed and offer the prospect of making a very positive contribution to the street scene and the local area as well as offering both a first class modern family-orientated sporting venue and a community facility and an asset for the residents of the Borough and beyond to enjoy".
Work on the Northfleet stadium's new main stand is due to begin in May, a spokesman for Ebbsfleet United said. The main stand alone will cost roughly £3.5 million, while the entire stadium should be rebuilt within £8 million and in 3 years.
