Laing O’Rourke and Aecom, who’ve joined up for the project in an alliance they call “Prism”, said on Friday that they’ve been selected to deliver Perth’s new Stadium Station complex. The AUS$298m (US$230.7m) integrated train, bus and pedestrian hub will “support a cultural shift of reliance on cars”, the government of Western Australia has said.
The contract involves building the Stadium Station, other rail infrastructure, a pedestrian footbridge and a big bus station. Transport officials say the new facility will allow the smooth dispersal of up to 28,000 people by train, bus and on foot within an hour of a major event.
Laing O’Rourke has invested heavily in offsite prefabrication techniques, and said it would use those techniques “to deliver the safest, smartest construction and commissioning of Perth’s newest public transport facility”.
