Exactly at the end of May, or one month from now, contractors will officially deliver the new Ferencváros stadium in Budapest. This means it only took 14 months to demolish the old stadium and deliver new one, a truly impressive time.

Already today the new Albert Flórián Stadion looks almost finished. The field should be laid within days, giant screens are already mounted under the roof, while most seats are in place. Those left to install aren’t standard ones. Corporate sections will see more comfortable chairs, while fanatic enclosures for home and away fans will have rail seating, allowing to sit and stand comfortably.

Handing over by June gives a whole lot of time for furnishings of the new club offices, museum and 29 skyboxes. Official opening will take place in early August, as the home side begin their new season.

Ferencváros president Gabor Kubatov is extremely happy with the development. “We’re bulding a stadium for next generations here, a role model. We also want to prove that you can operate a profitable club stadium in Hungary”, said Kubatov to press members.

The new 22,600-seater will provide 9 floors of space in total. This includes a 3-floor underground parking, the new museum and shops, cafes and hospitality zones. The latter are expected to provide 50% of ‘Fradi’ matchday revenue. This should boost Budapest’s leading team’s budget and increase chances of again becoming a significant European competitor.
