After almost 12 years in operation, Houston’s retractable-roof stadium changes its name. From now it’ll be known as NRG Stadium. That’s not a new naming rights deal, but continuation of the ongoing one.

Ever since it opened in 2002, the new stadium in Houston was named Reliant Stadium. Now this is no more, because yesterday NRG announced immediate name change. The company bought Reliant last year and decided to rebrand.
The naming changes won’t influence overall stadium deal. Naming rights contract worth $300 million was signed by Reliant in 2002 and will run for 32 years consecutively. This makes it one of the longest deals of its kind.
New signage, presented in official renderings below, will be installed in the next few weeks, long before the NFL season opens.
