In second half of 2014 the roof of Kyocera Stadion, home to ADO Den Haag, will be covered with solar panels. 2,900 photovoltaic batteries are to be spread across all four stands. Every year the system will produce 584,000 KWh, enough to supply 200 households with electricity.

The project is a joint initiative of 8 companies with ADO Den Haag and naming rights holder Kyocera (Kyocera Document Solutions Nederland and Kyocera Solar) leading the pack. Individual partners are also welcome to join the initiative, but specific conditions of the participation are yet to be announced.

In December a similar project, though at a smaller scale so far, has been launched in Groningen, seeing over 500 panels mounted atop Euroborg stadium.
