Since 2007 this small football stadium in Maxglan district serves as home for SV Austria, the club reestablished by fans after its history and tradition were rejected by Red Bull for marketing reasons. Austria enjoys good publicity and proved to bring a large fanbase together, managing to sell naming rights to the stadium to MyPhone.
However, the Maxglan stadium isn’t suitable for Austria’s aspirations in the long run. Most desirable scenario for the club would see it build its own ground in a new location, allowing further growth.
The 3rd league side haven’t got the resources at this point, while league regulations force them to improve the current ground. Still being in transition mode, the club was allowed not to have the minimum 1,000 seats as they won promotion, but time is running out.
This is why SV Austria today presented the idea to meet requirements and not impede chances of moving to a new ground. A new prefab stand behind southern goal, which would be easy to dismantle and re-erect on a new site, should the club move. It would hold 444 people with a roof, meeting the demands.
The project is priced at €500,000. The club has no guarantee of public funding, so are hoping to raise as much as possible in donations. Should you want to support the regenerated club in reaching its former glory, you can find details for how to support it at the club stadium campaign’s official website.
