While the future construction site sees preparatory works reach half-point (to be done by the end of 2014), the procedure to find designers, contractors and investors is also well underway.
The last half a year was a time of intensive preparations for bidders, who spent some 100 hours on meetings with the West Australia authorities to make sure all requirements for the future stadium are met.
Now three consortia have filed their bids, which comprise a complete package: the design, contracting plans, time frame, budget and partial financing options. All three bids will be evaluated and winner should be announced in mid-2014.
The new 60,000-capacity stadium is thought to cost some AU$ 1.1 billion and be done by mid-2018. Who’s in the race? Authorities only gave the consortia names, which are purpose-created and don’t reveal all companies behind them: Confidem, Evolution and WESTADIUM.
With few details released the West Australian government revealed that creators of the London Olympic Stadium or Singapore Sport Hub are among the competitors.
