Cardiff: Revamp hasn't started, but City stadium is already growing Altogether Cardiff City Stadium will earn some 900 new seats this summer, though the east stand's expansion is to begin next year. This was possible thanks to the club modifying current seating layout.

What many fans didn't even notice is that their still new stadium has grown ahead of the current season by 650 seats. The upgrade was done by relocating one disabled fans section and adding an extra row where possible.

Currently further works are ongoing in the south-east corner of the stadium, initially occupied by a large entrance which wasn't necessary. Now part of that entrance is already covered with steel prefabs that will be used for mounting some 220-240 seats.

The move was triggered by increased ticket demand for the Premier League and planned expansion of the Cardiff City Stadium.

Next summer the ground's east stand will have an upper deck added with extra 5,150 seats, raising overall capacity to some 33,000. Eventually both end stands are to receive similar upgrades.
