This information was first published on the official website of NUFC and later caused a wave of enthusiasm in social media as fans celebrate the much hated Sports Direct logo disappearing.
Paintwork spreading over the entire south stand will be covered with fresh grey paint before the 2013/14 season begins.
The sizeable re-decoration job, which is being undertaken by local Dunston-based company Just Signs and Lighting Ltd, follows a pledge by the digital finance company Wonga.com to return the stadium to the fans.
Wonga's contract came last year and saw unusual shift in naming rights policy, with new sponsor reverting to the historical, non-commercial name of St. James' Park.
