Never in the nearly 120-year-long history has Ibrox carried a commercial name. But current financial plight of Rangers is believed to bring this opportunity to businessmen seeking publicity.

Mike Ashley, controversial owner of Newcastle United, is said to be in talks over a contract with the Glasgow side. Ashley was previously said to try and buy shares in the club itself.

If true and successful, this news would mean name ‘Sports Direct Arena’ appearing once again on the football map after Ashley’s failed campaign to rename St. James’ Park in Newcastle.
