President Asif Ali Zardari announced on Monday that Pakistan needs a world class stadium in Islamabad. In his opinion sports can play an important role in character building of a nation.

It isn’t known yet what capacity would the new venue have or what features it might comprise. Currently the country’s largest venue, also in Islamabad, is Jinnah Stadium with capacity of 48,700 people. The structure is heavily outdated, however, and needs either urgent works, or replacement to satisfy authorities.
