After exactly 22 months the new main stadium of northern city of Havre is ready and works ended on May 21st, exactly as planned. Newest addition to French sports infrastructure already has all 25,000 seats in place, but severely lacks equipment. No wonder as this is when Ligue 2 side Havre AC comes in.
HAC took over the venue on Tuesday and will operate it through its company Océane Stadium. After having received the symbolic keys to the ground, the club needs to act quickly and not symbolically at all. Expenses of around €3m are planned to provide necessary equipment, like catering infrastructure (with restaurant to start with), furnishings for the 16 skyboxes , informatics or 180 TV sets.
The goal is to open on July 12th as previously announced, but first official game will take place on August 3rd. It would have been July 27th, but league authorities (LFP) agreed for HAC to play their first fixture away.
