A modern stadium that will transform Hong Kong’s sports infrastructure
Kai Tak Sports Park Main Stadium is a significant step forward in Hong Kong’s sports landscape. Unlike other venues in the city, this stadium, with a main capacity of 50,000 seats, is equipped with a seating system that allows for flexible configuration depending on the scale of the event. As part of a larger 28-hectare Sports Park, the stadium will coexist with a 10,000-seat sports hall, increasing the city’s ability to host world-class sports and entertainment events. Kai Tak Stadium will play a key role in co-hosting the 15th National Games of China, along with Guangdong and Macau. It will also be the new home of the iconic Hong Kong Sevens rugby tournament, one of the most prestigious in the world.

The stadium’s facade and innovative architectural features
One of the standout architectural elements of the stadium is its stunning facade, adorned with 27,000 aluminum panels designed in triangular formations. These panels utilize an innovative three-layer spraying technique, creating a fascinating color-changing effect from blue to purple depending on the time of day and viewing angle. Designed for durability, the panels also feature self-cleaning properties, ensuring long-lasting brilliance.
The opening ceremony, organized by renowned producer Ida Wong, promises spectacular experiences. The event will start at 6:30 p.m., and a star-studded lineup from the worlds of sports and entertainment will take to the stage. The audience at the stadium will have the opportunity to see, among others, gold medalist Vivian Kong, badminton champions Tang Chun-man and Tse Ying-suet, as well as table tennis star Fan Zhendong. Meanwhile, the stage will be lit up by an outstanding musical cast, including George Lam, Donnie Yen, Joey Yung, MC Cheung, Gin Lee, and others.
