Red card for the ultras
Fondo Sur Bajo, the Frente Atlético ultras’ stand at Cívitas Metropolitano, will remain closed in its entirety for the next three matches. In addition, the RFEF Disciplinary Committee has decided to punish the club with a fine of €45,000.
In the match report, referee Mateo Busquets Ferrer detailed that among the objects thrown at Courtois after Militao's goal were three lighters and a bottle of water.
The ultras ignored the two warnings over the public address system, so the referee had no choice but to temporarily suspend the match and gather in the locker room captains and delegates of both teams, League directors, the security coordinator and the federative delegate,
after which the match was resumed.
The Committee members consider that the throwing of objects at the Belgian goalkeeper is sufficiently documented,
and had an important influence on the image of the match since due to the seriousness and persistence of the facts, which were repeated up to two times, the match had to be suspended for a few minutes.
The RFEF body, although it values positively
the club's action after the events. considers that Atlético did not take sufficient measures to prevent such serious incidents,
pronouncing itself in the same line as the police association JUPOL, which accused the club of not letting it intervene.
